FAR Schools Program
Since 2003 FAR has worked with individual schools and school districts to provide quality therapeutic music, art and recreational services to students with special needs. FAR will work with you to customize a therapeutic plan specific to your school and the needs of your students. Service runs the length of the school year.
Working collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals, school administrators and parents, our caring, credentialed professionals offer a therapeutic approach that leverages each student’s interest—be it for music, art or recreation, to achieve measurable improvements in emotional, social, physical and cognitive ability.
Therapeutic Impact
Most schools and families with students receiving special needs services are familiar with specialized therapies that focus on improving performance in one area, such as physical, occupational or speech. These therapies are critically important, and often written into a student’s individual education plan (IEP).
Unlike individual specialized therapies, FAR therapists work with small groups of students. Small group settings provide students a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with their peers as they:
Overcome physical, intellectual and emotional barriers
Develop new skills
Establish and reinforce a pattern of success
Build self-esteem
Improve interpersonal relationships
Become part of a community
Discover the joy of self-expression
Partnering with Educators
FAR therapists set group goals that foster collaboration, cooperation and teamwork and measure the group’s progress the end of each school year. Our therapists invite paraprofessionals to participate in sessions. Working in partnership with educators maximizes student’s therapeutic benefits.
