FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation seeks a full-time OR part-time board-certified music therapist to join its interdisciplinary team effective immediately. The primary job responsibilities include providing private and small group therapy services to individuals with disabilities on-site and at various contracted agencies/schools, including the child Medicaid waiver program. Additional responsibilities include creative input for special fundraising events and agency performances. Some evening hours are required for this position.
FAR is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to providing a wide variety of therapeutic services in the greater Detroit area. The interdisciplinary team consists of art, music, dance, and recreation therapists and serves Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties. FAR is also dedicated to supporting the next generation of therapy professionals through university-affiliated internships and collegiate student practicum experiences.

All applicants applying for the music therapy position are required to have the following:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited music therapy program
• Current MT-BC certification
Successful candidates will also:
• Two years of professional experience as an MT-BC
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including those with physical, cognitive, communicative, and behavioral challenges
• Have strong personal integrity, be reliable and punctual
• Be a strong advocate for all creative and art-based therapies
• Be flexible, creative and self-motivated
• Possess excellent oral/written communication skills
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced, team environment
• Possess strong time management abilities
• Have reliable transportation
Compensation is commensurate with experience.

This unique opportunity is for a part-time (hourly) or full-time (salaried) position. In addition to providing private and small group therapy services to current clients, this therapist will also provide professional expertise to continue growing the DMT program.
